Grateful

Appreciate it while you still can...

When was the last time you looked at somebody and appreciated them? Appreciated the fact that they’re in your life and told them that they matter to you? Or when was the last time you sat down and thought about everything you have instead of thinking about everything you don't?

We’re living in a time and place where every single thing is uncertain. We don’t know what happens tomorrow, whether we’ll face good or bad situations, whether we’ll get the best opportunity of our lives or the worst news ever. Do we have control over the inevitable? No. But can we make sure that the time that we do get, the time we get to stay close to one another, to stay in touch, to talk and bond and to cherish what we have is used well? Yes.

In the middle of such a pandemic, one that has trapped the whole planet in its evil grip, we need to find positivity. We need to take this time to learn to be grateful. Grateful for the life we have been given, the life that hasn’t been snatched from us yet.

It’s so easy to complain about everything that we don’t have. So easy to blame others and talk about how much we can’t do in these tough times. So easy.
But what about everything that we do have? What about all the people who have lost lives, lost loved ones, the people who are working so hard right now to help us all...we don’t see them complaining.
So it’s about time, about time we get ourselves together and become responsible for our words and our actions. It’s about time that we start looking at the bigger picture and start being grateful that we are relatively better off.

I urge you to take this time, the ample amount of it that we have been given, to be good. Remind the people you love that you love them, get in touch with old friends over a phone call, check up on a family member, interact with those at home to compensate for the time we lost when life was much busier.

Today, instead of thinking about everything that could go wrong and everything that has already gone wrong, let's choose to focus on everything that can and will go right. Let's choose to appreciate the small things while we still can.
Because time doesn’t wait. So you have to make to the most of it because you don’t know when you can be robbed of it.
